Whatever happened at Heeley?

THE old Heeley station and the railway bridges which span Gleadless Road and London Road are an eyesore.
The small garden in front of what was the booking office is packed with self-set trees, one of which produces apples, and the path that led to it is strewn with every type of litter.

Perhaps Railtrack should come and have a look at Ponsford's shops that were built about the same time as the railway, and their Jubilee Bridge that spans Well Road to the new store on the old Heeley Palace cinema site.
