What do you think about the decision to close the Co-op department stores at Castle House, Hillsborough and Drakehouse?
"This is a mistake and will further undermine the city centre and out-of-town shopping centres. I think the decline of the co-operatively owned Co-Op is a retrograde step.
"Remember, this comes hard on the heels of granting planning permission for
a superstore to Tesco at the end of the Wicker."
Richard Roper, aged 58, Gleadless.

"Sad to see the demise of such a well-loved Sheffield store. It was quite a revolutionary design when it was built and still retains some unique features such as the huge circular staircase.
"The layout was always a bit chaotic but nevertheless offered good value to thousands of shoppers. You'll be missed."
Barry Cummings, aged 65, Broomhall.

"I only use Castle House very rarely for the Post Office, restaurant and toilets, so I would not really miss it if it closed. I have only ever bought one thing from Castle House and that was from the Sheffield United shop."
Kevan Smith, aged 50, Manor.

"It's just another step towards being dominated by the big four supermarkets."
Peter Charles, aged 50, Hillsborough.

Etty,

As far as im concerned it was and still is an abysmal dirty shop, staff rude and obnoxious. The sooner the food hall shuts down as well the better. They should have invested in paying cleaners and in staff training. Perhaps then they could have retained customers. Glad its (almost all) shut.
