The data, which covers the seven days from 25 September to 1 October, shows 20 or more cases were reported in no fewer than 17 city neighbourhoods as the infection rate continues to soar. More than 250 cases were recorded in one area alone, while another registered 118.
There were 287 cases per 100,000 people in Sheffield in the week ending 2 October. The average area in England had 52.
