The figures, released daily, reveal six more fatalities have been recorded in Sheffield’s hospitals, eight in Doncaster, seven in Rotherham and five in Barnsley.
Nationally, a further 338 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 39,908.

Hide AdThe patients were aged between 31 and 105 years old. All except 12 – aged 45-93 - had known underlying health conditions.
Their families have been informed.
No fewer than 468 coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded in Sheffield’s hospitals since the pandemic hit. In Doncaster, 432 people have now died, while 317 deaths have been confirmed in Rotherham and 294 in Barnsley.
Sheffield’s director of public health told a public meeting on Friday household spreading remains the most common source of coronavirus transmission because people’s homes are the ‘least Covid-secure’ environments.
