SHALESMOOR and Netherthorpe are the next areas of Sheffield to be chosen for a residents' parking scheme.
The council's West and North planning board heard work is continuing to design a scheme that will see permits eventually introduced in 2010.
Both districts, along with nearby Kelham Island, have seen extensive new developments built in the past fe
w years, putting even greater pressure on parking places on local roads.
A temporary scheme may be introduced in Shalesmoor next year, which would see permits provided to residents and businesses at no cost until July 2010. Then a more permanent, paid-for, system would be introduced.
Consultation on the temporary scheme is to start at the end of this month.
Officers have also drawn up a parking and access masterplan for Kelham Island to try to resolve problems caused by its transformation from an industrial zone to a largely residential area.
The idea is due to be considered by councillors in the next few weeks.
But Coun John Hesketh told the meeting there was "a lack of clarity" in the report and said it didn't take into account changes that had taken place in the areas discussed. He added the boundaries of the scheme were also unclear.
Coun Alan Hooper said: "The report deals with Kelham Island but doesn't really tell you what is being proposed."
Officers said it was a "half-term report" and that more details of the schemes would be revealed soon.
Residents' parking schemes have already been introduced in Broomhall, Broomhill, Sharrowvale and Crookesmoor.
The next one expected to be implemented will be in Hillsborough, and a petition with 191 names has been presented to the council calling for a residents' parking scheme in Upperthorpe, too.
