A Sheffield secondary school was almost forced to close for the first day of exams after a ‘water supply issue’.

Westfield School, on Eckington Road, had to delay opening on Monday until 11.05am due to the problem.

Students with exams were told to still go to school as usual, while any students already at school or on the way were accommodated.

An engineer later fixed the fault.

SATs week has begun for many schools across the UK.
