A KEY member of the Sheffield Tigers backroom speedway team has died in a horror smash between a motorcycle and a lorry in South Yorkshire.
The collision, on the A631 between Maltby and Tickhill, killed a biker and pillion passenger. Their names have not been released by police, who are still trying to notify all family members.

Tigers spokesman Neil Machin said the team, who suffered a heavy defeat last night after hearing the news, had wanted to postpone their meeting but it was too short notice.

He said: "It is a real tragedy and we are all stunned. No-one really wanted to do the meeting, but we had to just get on with it."

The motorcycle was heading out of Maltby when it was in collision with the lorry travelling in the opposite direction.

The lorry driver was suffering from shock.

Witnesses to the accident, at around 11am yesterday, should call the police accident witness helpline on 0114 2202970.
