ROCK band Rodger will be performing at the newly restored bandstand in Sheffield Weston Park on Sunday, 30 years after their last gig in the park – but will anybody be there?
The Sunday afternoon live music programme has had precious little publicity and is not even on the park's website.

"We're the first classic rock band back," says rhythm guitarist Alan, who along with Richard, Nigel, Ian and Paul is not too keen on his full name being used.

He joined when the group reformed 10 years ago – they play in local pubs – but none of the three original members can recall why they called the group Rodger.

Back in the Seventies there would be five or six bands playing until the evening, remembers Alan, then with rival group Zirk Dextron. Don't ask.

Rodger's finest moment was when they were featured on Radio One as an up-and-coming band not yet signed to a label.

Thirty years on that's still the case but the waistlines are thicker.

Catch them between 2 and 4pm.
