Dog starved to death
David Alan Cartledge, aged 31, pleaded guilty to causing his three-year-old Labrador-Alsatian cross Sasha unnecessary suffering, and was also ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work for the community and pay 350 costs.
RSPCA inspectors were called to Cartledge’s house in Shirecliffe Road, Shirecliffe, on Monday January 22 after a tip-off that there was a dead dog in the back garden. It was discovered that she had been there for four days.

Hide AdDamien Woolliscroft, the inspector who dealt with the case, said: “It was quite upsetting and quite clear to me that this animal had led an appalling life and must have suffered horrendously towards the end just because of someone failing to give it adequate food.’’
