What Garry Monk said Sheffield Wednesday's performance lacked in their 1-1 derby draw at Barnsley
and live on Freeview channel 276
A stop-start performance saw the Owls create few chances despite an attacking line-up thrown out by Monk, who made five changes and handed first starts to loan signings Josh Windass and Connor Wickham.
And it was Windass who opened the scoring with Wednesday’s only shot of the first half before a mistake from goalkeeper Cameron Dawson allowed the Reds’ Cauley Woodrow to equalise.

Monk said: “We knew it was going to be a battle, local derbies always are and condition-wise, we knew it was going to be rough for both sides.
“The battle was there and times we showed the right composure and we looked a threat.
“We probably didn’t show that composure enough. There were some decisions that ultimately led to some mistakes but we knew the battle was going to be there from both sides.”

He said: “We looked very good when we had that composure and threat, when we could put a few passes together and put on some counter attacks.
“There was that swirling wind and the pitch was quite heavy and cutting up. It’s a local derby, we knew that fight would be there for both sides.
“The thing that we needed to improve was that composure with the ball, the times we did have that we managed to get into the box and we were a threat, but we didn’t do that enough.

“We had a great chance right at the end but overall today the battle was there, we competed in that battle but we just lacked that composure.”
