“We’ll have the Westy that everybody knows back…” – Keiren Westwood’s teammate comments on his return to the Sheffield Wednesday setup

Westwood was frozen out of the Wednesday setup under Garry Monk, being sent to train with the U23s while Cameron Dawson and Joe Wildsmith were left to fight out for the number one spot.
One of Tony Pulis’ first actions when taking over, however, was to get ‘Westy’ registered, and he went straight into the starting XI against Preston North End – almost exactly a year after his last Wednesday appearance.

Hide AdMoses Odubajo, who was on media duty ahead of the trip to Swansea City tonight, says that it’s good to have him back.
He explained, “We didn’t see Keiren that much because he was training with the U23s, so the times were off a little bit.
“But it feels good to have him back in amongst the team. Obviously his quality speaks for itself, I think a couple more games and we’ll have the Westy that everybody knows back.”
Westwood did come in for a bit of criticism after the role he played in Preston’s winner on Saturday, but he is expected to keep his position between the sticks when Pulis names his second Owls XI ahead of tonight’s clash at the Liberty Stadium.
