Sheffield Wednesday ended 2019 in a promising league position but in disappointing fashion as defeats at Stoke and at home to Cardiff saw them slip to sixth place in the Championship.
Goals from Robert Glatzel and Junior Hoilett within the first eight minutes put the game beyond the Owls’ reach on a frustrating afternoon despite Tom Lees’ second in as many games on 18 minutes.
Hoilett later escaped a red card for a tackle on Liam Palmer that Garry Monk described as ‘reckless’.
