Iorfa was a worthy winner given his performances over the course of the 2019/20 campaign, making the centre back position his own under Garry Monk as he went on to play 45 times in all competitions for SWFC.
The big man earning the plaudits will have come as no surprise to those that have watched the team this season, but – despite a difficult season in the Championship – he wasn’t the only one to receive praise for his efforts in 2019/20.

Hide AdLeading the way in a number of key defensive stats, the 25-year-old was one of only a handful of Owls to play 40+ league games in the season just gone, becoming one of the first names on Monk’s teammate before and after the Coronavirus break.
The Star understands that it was Jacob Murphy who placed second in the fan’s votes when they were asked for their Player of the Season, which is no shock given his efforts since the turn of the year, while Barry Bannan came in in third place as he once again ranked among the top-performing players at the club.
While Bannan is still waiting to be crowned as Player of the Season since his 2015 move to Hillsborough, it has to be noted that he’s always in contention despite the changing personnel around him – something that should be praised.
