The 24-year-old has replaced Keiren Westwood as the main man between the Owls sticks and in January was awarded a new four-year contract extension, with Garry Monk suggesting he fits the profile of a player he wishes to build the future of the club around.
Indifferent form towards the back end of Wednesday’s run into the coronavirus suspension has not deterred Dawson, who is pleased with how the season has gone on a personal level.

“We’re sort of kicking ourselves at Sheffield Wednesday because at Christmas time we were third in the league and going really well.

“Without getting carried away we had hopes we could hang in there and have a really good push at the play-offs.

With Westwood frozen out and training with the under-23s, much has been made of Joe Wildsmith’s challenge to Dawson for the Wednesday gloves, a challenge Dawson is relishing as the pair develop together.
“Personally I’ve played quite a lot of games this season,” Dawson said. “But I’m still at that stage where I’m still learning about myself and learning what I still need to do.
“I’m far from the finished article, but as goalies I’m fortunate we probably hit our peak a little bit later than the outfield players do.

“In general I’m really happy with the amount of games I’ve played and my performances.
“Hopefully when we do get back we can get back on and it pick up the results.”
