The Sheffield Wednesday playmaker has missed the Owls’ the five games after sustaining a knock to his knee in defeat at Bristol City, but is in line for a return in their clash at Wycombe tomorrow.
Speaking ahead of the trip to Adams Park, his manager Garry Monk gave an indication of the trouble Wednesday have had returning the Chelsea man to fitness.

“We had to take a period where he was off the training field to allow that swelling to go down, because it flared back up, and then we assess it from there.
“He’s been in for a good few days now and with each day the swelling hasn’t come back, so that’s progress. And then you judge it where he’s at fitness-wise and how he’s felling.
“He’s been back all week, we’ve had no problems with it flaring back up or anything, he’s had a good week.
“I’m very hopeful he’ll be in contention for the weekend.”

Hide AdDominic Iorfa is another key man back in contention, though giant centre-half Aden Flint has been ruled out with a hamstring injury sustained in midweek defeat at Rotherham.
“Aden is struggling with his hamstring,” Monk said. “We don’t know how serious or how bad that hamstring is at the moment, we’ll know over the next few days, but he’ll be out for the weekend.
“Massimo is still out and then there’s the suspensions that we have, so that’s where we’re at as a squad.
“We’re trying to get players back as much as we can, they’re important players for us.

“We’d like them right now but it doesn’t always work like that when you’re injured.”
