The young Owls had a solid run in the tournament last season, beating the likes of Southampton and Preston North End before they were narrowly beaten by Blackburn Rovers in the fifth round in January.
Now it has been confirmed that the first round will be almost a carbon copy of their first fixture last time out, but this time with Burton Albion making the trip to Sheffield rather than the other way around.

“The cup-tie at Hillsborough will kick off at 12 noon and admission is £3 adults, £1 concessions and Owls Season Tickets holders are free of charge.”
Andy Holdsworth’s side have had a hot and cold start to their 2022/23 campaign, with two wins, two draws and three defeats from their opening fixtures, however they won their last game 1-0 after Joey Phuthi scored the only goal in a victory over Wigan Athletic over the weekend.
Many of the players who featured in last year’s cup run have since stepped up into first team training, with the likes of Leojo Davidson, Rio Shipston and Bailey Cadamarteri all having featured with the senior side this season.
