The visitors had a numerical advantage from just the 30th minute when Liam Shaw was sent off for the Owls and Reading, who levelled-up Callum Paterson’s goal with a header by former Wednesday man Lucas Joao, had four penalty shouts turned down by referee Oliver Langford.
Speaking after the game, a calm Royals boss Veljko Paunović admitted that while he was yet to see replays of the incidents, members of his backroom staff who had were aggrieved at the referee’s decisions.

“I have to take another look, but what I hear from people and what I hear from the guys looking at the footage after the game, it seemed they were pretty obvious.”
It was the second time in Tony Pulis’ four matches as Wednesday manager that the Owls were down to 10 within half an hour and the third match in a row that they battled to draws against playoff contenders.
Half-time saw the Owls set up differently and though they rode their luck at times, a draw was well earned, leaving Paunović frustrated.

“I'm not going to comment on the officiating. Everyone has to be accountable, we keep ourselves accountable and everyone should do that themselves.”
“We can't control that. I'm not going to complain or blame anyone, it's not the first time to be honest and we've been in this situation before.
“That's what we have to look at. I think we had a very good combination in the second half but they were capable of defending. There were two or three big chances.”
