Fox, 26, endured a tough 2018/19 season at Hillsborough, with fans turning against him as he struggled for form and confidence, but fast-forward a year and he’s become one of the top performers at Wednesday and is one of the first names on Garry Monk’s teamsheet.
Instead of taking a long holiday in Dubai or somewhere similar at the end of last season, Fox could be seen running up hills with marines in the Lake District as he looked to better himself and prove the haters wrong in the season ahead.
And he did just that.

Hide AdThe defender’s turnaround has been so remarkable that getting him on board for next season has become a main priority for Dejphon Chansiri and SWFC management - alongside a new deal for Steven Fletcher – but they may well have a battle on their hands.
Wednesday manager, Monk, didn’t start playing the 26-year-old immediately, but he soon staked his claim for a starting berth and then kept his place until an injury in January ruled him out for the best part of a month.
In fact, SWFC have won just four of the 11 Championship games that Fox has missed this season to date, and it’s for that reason that he’s expected to start on June 20th when the club hopefully returns to action.
The issues surrounding his contract still stand though. And the fact of the matter is that – as things stand – there is no deal in place for the 2020/21 season even though preliminary talks have gotten underway.

Hide AdThe Star understands that there is interest from elsewhere in the left back, and uncertainty surrounding Wednesday’s status next season given the ongoing case with the English Football League will not have helped their situation.
Interest in a 26-year-old potentially free agent who has shown the mental strength that Fox has should come as no surprise, and most Wednesday fans will be hoping Chansiri moves quickly to make sure he’s still at Hillsborough next season.
