The Portuguese forward has been a man on fire so far this season, scoring nine goals in the Championship and picking up four assists in just 13 games, playing a large part in making sure that the Royals are among the league’s highest-scoring clubs.
Having scored 17 of his 29 Wednesday goals at home during his time at S6, the 27-year-old knows all about finding the back of the net at Hillsborough, and he has admitted that it will be nice for him to return to his old stomping ground tomorrow night.

Speaking to the club’s official website before travelling back to Sheffield, Joao said, “It will be my first time back at Hillsborough since I came to Reading… It will be special to be back there, to go back to this stadium where I was happy.
“It will be good to be back there and see some old teammates – some friends that I left there, some good people. It will be great to see them… But it’s another game to go and try to get the three points for Reading!
“It is difficult to go to Hillsborough because they have good players through their squad… but we have some confidence – we want to keep it and go as far as we can.”
