Monk told The Star: "He [Sims] would be one of the names that came up in our recruitment meetings but there is nothing concrete I can really tell you."I would like there to be something to tell you but there isn't."
Sims, a graduate of Southampton's youth system, made his professional debut in November 2016 against Everton in the Premier League. The skilful wide man has represented England from U17 through to U20 level.
But the 22-year-old has struggled to command a regular starting spot with the Saints and has had loan spells at Reading and Near York Red Bulls in the past two seasons.
