At present, Garry Monk has the likes of Tom Lees, Dominic Iorfa, Izzy Brown, Liam Palmer, Liam Shaw and Chey Dunkley amongst his walking wounded, with defensive injuries leading to a surprise centre back role for Massimo Luongo as the Owls went up against Birmingham City over the weekend.
They got the job done, though, with Aden Flint and Jack Marriott making their SWFC debuts just a day after being announced, and it sounds like it may be a case of ‘much of the same’ against the Bees when they make the trip up North.

Speaking to The Star after that 1-0 win over Birmingham, he explained, “I think it’s doubtful that we’ll have anyone back this week, if I’m honest with you… But we’ll see.
“I doubt Wednesday’s game especially, but for the weekend we’ll have to see. It’s why it was important to get Jack and Aden in in the meantime - to try and give us a bit of strength. It’s not the biggest squad in the world.
“Hopefully we can get through these games with the squad we’ve got, then a couple more coming in before the international break. After the international break we should have everyone back, and that’ll be a really good position to be in.

The good news, however, is that Monk said after the game at St. Andrews that there were no fresh injuries picked up by any of his players during that encounter, and he’ll be hoping that things stay that way in training this week prior to facing off against Thomas Frank and his side in a couple of days’ time.
