Keiren Westwood and Chey Dunkley? – Latest on injured Sheffield Wednesday duo before Owls’ Coventry City trip
and live on Freeview channel 276
Both players have missed the Owls’ last two games due to injury, but the pair will have had over two weeks between games by the time the trip to Coventry rolls around this coming weekend.
A return for Westwood (groin) and Dunkley (hamstring) would be big boosts to a Wednesday side that’s been hit hard by a COVID-19 outbreak, and Neil Thompson says that their absence was down to their rapid return to action after lengthy spells out.

Hide AdSpeaking to the media before the 2-0 win over Exeter City in the FA Cup, ‘Thommo’ said, "They are progressing… I think their injuries were because they played a lot of football in a short space of time when they have not played lots of football in the last year. Certainly Chey, who has played five games in a short period, and Keiren had a lot of kicking to do in the three games that he had.
"It has been tired muscles and legs and that's normal. They have gone into games without really doing that pre-season stuff. We made the decision against Derby to tread carefully rather than foolishly.”
Wednesday have kept back-to-back clean sheets in their last two games as they climbed out of the Championship relegation zone and marched into the FA Cup fourth round, but if Westwood and Dunkley are back then it’ll be a big bonus for Thompson as he contemplates his next starting XI.
