Wednesday face off against Rochdale in the Carabao Cup tomorrow night on the back of a big win away at Cardiff City, so I had a go at selecting my XI as the Owls look to go three unbeaten for the first time this year.
1. GK - Joe Wildsmith
Monk has said time and time again how close Wildsmith and Dawson are, and how there’s currently ‘no number one’ at the club. So with Dawson starting the last two, I’d be inclined to give Wildsmith a run in the cup. Photo: CameraSport - Alex Dodd
2. CB - Dominic Iorfa
For me, even when changes are being made and rotation is happening, I’d play Iorfa whenever he’s fit and available. A key component of that Wednesday defence. Photo: Steve Ellis
3. CB - Tom Lees
He seems to be getting back to where he was before a slump in form, and a bit of consistency in terms of performances can’t be a bad thing as he looks to make sure his partnership with Iorfa keeps improving. Photo: Steve Ellis
4. CB - Joost Van Aken
Impressed by all accounts against Cardiff, and I feel like he needs a run of games to get back his confidence and become a real part of things at Wednesday. Could be interchangeable with Julian Börner, but I’d be inclined to go with some consistency where possible. Photo: Steve Ellis
