1. GK - Cameron Dawson
It's a famously close-run thing between Cameron Dawson and Joe Wildsmith in the battle for the gloves at Wednesday, but you simply can't fault his efforts so far, presiding over a defence that has kept two clean sheets in three league matches. Photo: Steve Ellis
2. CB - Dominic Iorfa
An absolute shoo-in having so far backed up what was a coming-of-age season last time out. Links with the Premier League are only going to get louder, you feel, with Iorfa possessing the attributes to play at the highest level. Still a little raw in some of his decision making, the safest of the defenders in terms of his place. Photo: Steve Ellis
3. CB - Tom Lees
This season has been a resurgence as Lees continues to put the horrors of the last campaign behind him. A leader at the back, he has been the outstanding player for Wednesday in the run we've had and though Chey Dunkley will no doubt be hot on his heels for the more central of the three defensive spots, Lees deserves to stay there. 4. CB - Joost Van Aken
This may be where there's a little room for debate. Will the return of Chey Dunkley mean van Aken's place comes under threat, perhaps with Lees shifting out to the left of the three? Dunkley is naturally right-footed and has little experience of playing on the left. I'm sticking with the Dutchman for now. There's a way to go on Dunkley's recovery and van Aken has done little wrong. Photo: Steve Ellis
