Injury updates on Aden Flint, Massimo Luongo, Izzy Brown and Dominic Iorfa ahead of Sheffield Wednesday’s crucial Wycombe trip

But heading into a trip to second-bottom Wycombe Wanderers only nine games into the season, Garry Monk finds himself down to only one available and fully-fit senior centre-half after Tom Lees saw red and Aden Flint went off with a hamstring injury in midweek defeat at Rotherham.
Out-of-form German Julian Börner is the last man standing, with the likes of youngster Osaze Urhoghide and full-backs Liam Palmer and Moses Odubajo able to step in if required. Reigning player of the year Dominic Iorfa, out for over a month with a hamstring injury, could be in-line for a comeback.

“We’ve been short in personnel in that area. We managed to get Tom back but he was sent off. Dom’s back in training and should be back. It’s needs must.
“We’ll assess the squad over the next 24 hours or so and see who is available for the next game.”
Asked on the fitness of Cardiff loanee Aden Flint, who has impressed in his short Owls career so far, Monk said:

“We’ll see, I don’t know at this point. In these last two games, everything that could have gone wrong has gone wrong.”
There is no real concern over the fitness of Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, who was seen hobbling and holding his hamstring towards the end of the 3-0 defeat, with Monk reporting signs of cramp in the youngster.
Massimo Luongo, out with a knee injury, will not feature this weekend but the club are hopeful he will be able to return to training this week. Izzy Brown (knee) is back training and is another who Monk said may fall into the ‘needs must’ category in terms of selection this weekend.

“It might well be a situation of needs must in certain areas.”
