The Bulgarian forward has headed home to join PFC Etar Veliko Ternovo in the Bulgarian top tier. The ink is drying on a one-season deal and The Star understands that Borukov and his representatives are keen to source a move back to Western Europe when it expires at the end of June.
The 20-year-old had a number of enquiries from clubs in the UK, Holland and Italy, but that complications with the coronavirus crisis, including Bulgarian Government quarantine rules, means he will re-consider those options next summer.

Borukov made a name for himself in the Wednesday youth ranks and earned first-team involvement last season when he sat on the bench in January’s FA Cup win at QPR and in the following league defeat at Wigan. Though his goal tally slowed a touch as he moved into the under-23s, many Owls supporters were surprised to have seen him moved on.
Jordan Rhodes is the club’s only senior striker at current, with Charles Hagan having been moved into the senior training fold this pre-season alongside Manuel Hidalgo.
Former Everton youngster Korede Adedoyin is trialling with Wednesday’s under-23s and the club have been linked with moves for Josh Windass and Alessio Da Cruz.

Hide AdSpeaking to The Star after his departure, Borukov said: “I was very surprised because in the past year I was training every day with the first team and with Garry Monk.
“I feel like I could have offered much more to the club. In training sessions with the first team I scored goals and showed my value to the team. Unfortunately I was never given the chance to prove myself in the Championship and that is a shame for me and the fans.”
