Green was confirmed as Wednesday’s first signing of 2021 when he was unveiled on the club website earlier today, and now he’s given some insight as to why he chose to make the move to S6.
The 22-year-old has been without a club since leaving Aston Villa at the end of last season, and there have been questions asked as to why nobody else snapped him up before Wednesday managed to – he says he was taking his time.

Sheffield Wednesday feels perfect for me… It’s been a difficult time for me because football is all I’ve known but I wasn’t going to go anywhere where it didn’t feel right and this club just does.”
And he’s aiming high at Hillsborough… Green knows the feeling of reaching the promised land of the Premier League having achieved with with Villa, and he says he thinks his new club have the same sort of feel about them.
He went on to say, “I’m only 22 but I was at Villa for 15 years and I wanted the next step to be the right one. Villa is a big football club and Sheffield Wednesday is a big football club, I see a lot of parallels between the two.
“Everybody knows Villa and everybody knows Wednesday. People say this club is a sleeping giant and they said the same about Villa in the Championship.

It remains to be seen how long the England youth international, who will wear the number 16 at Wednesday, will have to wait for his debut – but fans will be hoping to see him in action later this month when SWFC travel to Everton in the FA Cup Fourth Round.
