The FA's message was relayed to clubs at the latest meeting of the 20 Premier League sides yesterday, and means that the option of declaring the current season 'null and void' is effectively off the table.
Instead, the final placings will either be decided by actually playing the remaining games, or deciding the table on a points-per-game basis. The latter method would put the Blades above Wolves and into sixth, sealing a Europa League place.

Hide AdThe meeting also reportedly saw as many as a dozen clubs voice their opposition to the plan to play the remaining games at neutral venues, and also saw the issue of expiring player contracts discussed.
