"Well done, son" - Neil Warnock sends his congratulations to fellow Sheffield United fan Joe Root as he reaches 100 Test milestone for England

Root's 100th Test got underway this morning in India, and he marked the occasion with a half century as England kicked off the series on positive fashion.
And Warnock, now in charge of Championship club Middlesbrough, sent a video message to Root this morning.

Hide Ad"I'm really proud to be able to say to you, congratulations on your 100th Test," Warnock said.
"It's unbelievable, especially coming from Yorkshire and a Blade. I love watching you play, everyone writes you off and everyone on telly tells everyone where you're going wrong, and you don't give a damn.
"That's the best way son, you do your own thing. And you haven't done a bad job so far. You helped me out in the second Test in Sri Lanka, we got a bad refereeing decision and I couldn't sleep so I was up at four o'clock to watch the Test and what a good day's play.
"It cheered me right up. So congratulations again son, I hope there's another 100 to come and if you get chance, pop up to see us.
"You'll have a good day, on me. Well done, son."

Hide AdToday's game sees Root's career go full-circle, after he made his Test debut in India back in December 2012. Born in Sheffield, he came through the ranks at Sheffield Collegiate CC and has been at Yorkshire since a young age. He became England Test captain in February 2017.
