Improved after the break, an odd glimpse of magic: Sheffield United player ratings from 2-0 FA Cup defeat at Chelsea
But United bounced back well from last weekend’s thrashing at Leicester and could have got back in the game at 1-1, but for a missed glorious chance. Here’s how the Blades rated at the Bridge.
Aaron Ramsdale 7
Had no chance with Chelsea's opener as the ball deflected off Norwood but made a good save to deny Pulisic after he intercepted the midfielder's sloppy backpass. Kept out the American again in the second half but his kicking could be better
Jayden Bogle 6

Hide AdStruggled to get as involved going forward as he would usually like, and was uncharacteristically caught in possession a few times. Like the rest of United's players, he improved after the break
George Baldock 6
Looked fired up for the game after being deployed on the right of United's back three, wasting no time getting stuck into Pulisic in particular. Perhaps fortunate to avoid a booking as the fouls totted up
Phil Jagielka 7
Took his place in defence just days after the tragic death of his older brother, Steve. Had an early chance to test Kepa, but couldn't get enough purchase on his header. Used his experience to be in the right place at the right time but will have had his heart in his mouth when he passed back to Ramsdale who had come for the ball, but it fortunately went wide of the post
Enda Stevens 7
Lined up on the left of United's back three and played his part as United limited the amount of times Chelsea tested Ramsdale, despite all the ball they had. Later headed wide of Kepa's goal as United sought an equaliser
Ben Osborn 7

Hide AdGiven a difficult first half by Hudson-Odoi down the Chelsea right, and seemed to be caught between cutting out the ball and looking to stop the winger. Much better after the break as he bombed forward at every opportunity. A good option at wing-back or midfield
Ollie Norwood 6
Was unfortunate to see Chilwell's shot deflect off him and past Ramsdale, but his poor pass was intercepted by Pulisic and only Ramsdale's save prevented a goal. Other than that, was good on the ball and with his passing until he was replaced
John Lundstram 5
Found the moment of quality that was so often lacking in this game with a cross to find McGoldrick, but he somehow headed wide. Clever ball sent Bogle clear, but didn't do enough to win the ball back in build-up to Chelsea's second goal.
John Fleck 5.5
The odd glimpse of magic, including a late foray forward after beating a couple of men, but also some sloppy play, including over-hitting a simple pass to Osborn as a quick one-two threatened to open up a chance for the Blades
David McGoldrick 6

Hide AdReturned to the starting line-up after a knee injury and tested Kepa's handling with an early shot from outside the box. Had the chance United were looking for all game when Lundstram's cross picked him out about five yards from goal, but he somehow headed it wide. Showed beautiful skill to beat Azpilicueta down the byline
Oli McBurnie 5
Forced a decent save from Kepa to his left after cutting onto his left foot and shooting at goal, but otherwise struggled to influence the game as much as he'd have liked
Subs
Oli Burke 5
Came on for McBurnie
Rhian Brewster 6
Replaced Norwood and thought he'd equalised, but his shot was deflected narrowly wide
Lys Mousset n/a
Came on for Bogle as United's last throw of the dice in the last minute of normal time
