The first game back for the Premier League ended in stalemate, with Chris Wilder’s men so unlucky after being denied what looked a perfectly good goal by a problem with Hawkeye technology in an incredible twist to the tale which could have a huge effect on their season.
But how did the players fare on their return after more than three months without a game? Here’s how we rated the Blades at Villa Park...
1. Dean Henderson - 8
Made a good strong save from Davis in the second half after a couple of routine ones, by his excellent standards, in the first. Did well to deny McGinn later on too Photo: Pool
2. Chris Basham - 6
Energetic as ever - which was handy as Basham was forced to defend facing his own goal more than once Photo: CARL RECINE
3. John Egan - 6
Given a tough time at various moments by the lively Davis but managed to keep a clean sheet Photo: SHAUN BOTTERILL
4. Jack Robinson - 7
Handed the unenviable task of filling in for Jack O'Connell at Villa Park and did well, on and off the ball. Showed good defensive instincts to cut out a dangerous cross from the Villa right Photo: Shaun Botterill
