Police probe into fatal M1 collision in South Yorkshire ongoing

A 62-year-old Sheffield man, who has not yet been named, died after he was struck by a vehicle on the southbound stretch of the M1 between Junction 36 for Barnsley and 35A for Tankersley at around 5.30am.
South Yorkshire Police said the force ‘received reports of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian’.

Hide AdThe motorway was closed for hours yesterday while collision investigators attempted to work out exactly what happened.
They want to hear from motorists with dashcam footage of the incident.
Motorists were caught up in lengthy tailbacks for most of the day, with a 10-vehicle pile up on the A628 at Flouch adding to the congestion on the surrounding roads.
Witnesses to the fatal collision should call 101 and quote incident number 96 of January 20.
