First pictures and video from M1 near Sheffield as 'five cars and lorry' crash on motorway

The M1 was closed in both directions at J34 this morning following a serious collision near to Meadowhall.
A full closure was in place between junctions 34 and 35 – between Tinsley and Thorpe Hesley – while emergency services deal with the collision.

Hide AdA number of fire engines, police cars and ambulances are at the scene and an air ambulance has also landed.
One motorist said that they have seen nine police cars, four fire engines, an ambulance and a paramedic vehicle speed past them.
A number of Police Forensic Collision Investigation vans are also on the scene,
They reported that motorists are now being turned back from the motorway and that the crash involved ‘five cars and a lorry’.
The M1 southbound at J34 has now reopened but the M1 northbound remains closed with police warning of significant delays.
