The Star Football Awards: The big winners on a glitzy night celebrating our teams
Wednesday saw off strong competition from Johnstone’s Paint Trophy winners Barnsley to be named team of the year at the glitzy ceremony at the Hilton Doubletree in Sheffield.
And Carlos Carvalhal beat Neil Warnock and Paul Heckingbottom to be named manager of the year after masterminding his side’s superb season and run to the Championship play-offs.

Hide AdSnooker legend Willie Thorne was the host for the evening which saw 13 prizes handed out in total.
Wednesday legend John Sheridan became the fifth inductee into The Star Football Hall of Fame, 25 years after scoring at Wembley to help the Owls lift the Rumbelows Cup.
Fernando Forestieri was named Wednesday player of the year.
The Special Award went to Neil Warnock for his tremendous contribution to both Sheffield United and Rotherham United.
The Sheffield United player of the year prize went to Billy Sharp, who also took away the Golden Boot for his 21 goal haul this season.

Hide AdChe Adams beat strong competition from across our six clubs to claim the Young Player of the Year prize.
Lee Camp was named Rotherham United player of the year with Craig Alcock and Sam Hird taking the prizes for Doncaster Rovers and Chesterfield respectively.
Barnsley’s Conor Hourihane took home the Reds’ player of the year prize for the second successive year.
The Derek Dooley Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to England’s 1966 World Cup final hat trick hero Sir Geoff Hurst, with the prize handed out by Football Association chairman Greg Dyke.
