Sheffield Wednesday: '˜One of the best years of my career'
Booth admits that first campaign for Wednesday was one of the most enjoyable of his career as the Owls looked at one point as though they could be title contenders.
As it turned out the 1996/97 season ended with a seventh placed finish, and though Booth remains somewhat disappointed they never realised their potential, it was a year he will forever remember.
“We were brilliant in those first few games,” he said.

Hide Ad“We won the first three and I managed to score in my second match, against Leeds at Elland Road which was special and I got something like 13 altogether.
“We had some great players and the fans were loving it. Ritchie Humphreys was breaking through and we had Regi Blinker and then Carbone, It was great and we played some great football.
“As much as I loved it though, we should have at least finished in the European places.”
