SHEFFIELD SHOOTING: Everything known about gun attack on taxi

- Emergency services were alerted to a shooting in Margate Drive, Pitsmoor, at 9.30pm yesterday.

Hide Ad- When police officers arrived at the scene they discovered that a white Seat estate, bearing the City Taxis logo, had been fired at.
- The driver’s side window was damaged in the gun attack and shattered glass could be seen on the ground next to the vehicle.
- It has not yet been revealed by South Yorkshire Police whether anyone was injured in the shooting.

Hide Ad- Officers are trying to trace the passengers in the taxi at the time of the gun attack.
- A police cordon is in place in Margate Drive, with the taxi taped off and central to enquiries.
- CSI officers are working within the cordon to look for clues to help crack the case.
- A man has been arrested and is being held on suspicion of firearms offences.
- It is believed that one shot was fired towards the taxi.

Hide Ad- The shooting happened close to where 53-year-old city cabbie Younis Khan was shot dead when he was driving along Scott Road, Pitsmoor, in 2007. Two men were jailed for a total of 64 years between them after being found guilty following a trial.
