Liberal Democrat councillors in Ecclesall gave a helping hand at the St William’s Church Lunch Club by distributing a chippie meal to members.
The Ecclesall Road club was an important fixture in the lives of its members pre-Covid and is being sorely missed.

Councillors Roger Davison, Barbara Masters and Shaffaq Mohammed were helped out by Two Steps Fish and Chips Shop on Sharrow Vale Road.
They worked with Jenny Allen and Nicky Percival from St William’s Church to deliver piping hot fish, chips, and mushy peas to a number of addresses.
Coun Davison said: “It was a pleasure to help out and we could see how much it was appreciated. They hadn’t been able to taste a meal from a chippie for nearly a year and were really grateful.

Jenny Allen, one of the organisers of the club, said: “They were so pleased to have something different and almost normal, it really brightened up their day.
“Although they couldn’t meet together, which they’re all so desperate to do, they were all having the same lunch at the same time, giving them a feeling of solidarity.”
Several members sent notes and phone calls of thanks and one suggested it should be a weekly treat.
