Six Degrees Sheff Ltd put the plans to Sheffield Council to demolish a vacant warehouse at the Orchard Centre, 14-18 West Bar Green, and build 14 new studio apartments in its place.
It would be purpose built for students, who would join the community of those already living on the upper floors of the Orchard Centre.

In a statement with the plans Swish Architecture, on behalf of Six Degrees, said: “The design approach including the choice of materials and glazing style is sympathetic to the surrounding area whilst adding a contemporary edge. Scaling and massing looks to eliminate any overbearing of the existing properties.
“The layouts of the apartments have been designed to maximise desirable outlook and eliminate overlooking with the use of obscure glazing and carefully positioned windows.
“There are no other issues that have been identified that are material to the determination of the planning application. The proposals can be considered to accord with planning polices, and the local planning authority, is, therefore, respectfully requested to grant planning permission for our proposed development.”
