The Maltby Learning Trust has submitted the application, and say the building has become a target for anti-social behaviour.
Built in the early 1930’s, the school closed in 2012 and has fallen into a state of disrepair.

Hide AdCampaigners rallied against the demolition of the building when plans were first announced in 2012, and were especially keen to preserve the school’s distinctive clock tower.
However, The Maltby Learning Trust say it has fallen into a state of disrepair, and has attracted anti-social behaviour and trespassing.
Their application says: “The trust’s site team is continuously securing and making safe the building which is getting more and more difficult.
“The trust is doing all it can to ensure a serious accident does not occur.”

“This would involve the clearance and removal of all building material and the grounds landscaped with grassed areas and footpaths for students to use as an extension to the current Maltby Academy playground area,” states the application.
A number of neighbours have objected to the plan, calling for the building to be restored.
One wrote: “Efforts have not been made to raise funds for repair, and, indeed, to protect it from vandals.”
