Plans have been submitted to transform the old Mansfield Road station into a gym with a cafe and creche. The scheme includes building a two-storey rear extension.
Currently there’s parking for four cars but this would be increased to 24 spaces. The gym would open 6am to 10pm seven days a week.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue closed it in 2015, along with stations at Darnall and Mosborough.
The old stations were replaced with multi-million pound facilities at Parkway and Birley Moor, which fire chiefs said provided a better service to the community, particularly the south east of the city.
Mansfield Road station has been empty since it closed and has become derelict and vandalised. It suffered an arson attack in 2017.
