Intelligent Facility Solutions, based at the Electric Works in the city centre, is usually busy helping other businesses become more environmentally friendly but has turned its attention to the local community to help everyone recycle more easily.
People can log on to the website here and enter their postcode before selecting which items they want to dispose of from a drop down menu.

Hide AdIt includes conventional recycling sites, and TerraCycle points out items that are harder to recycle and has information on what to do with difficult to dispose of plastics.
The site also features charities and shops that have their own recycling schemes and there is a ‘Recycling in Sheffield’ Facebook group for people to share their ideas and knowledge.
In the longer term, the firm aims to sponsor groups in the city who would be prepared to take on responsibility for collectively recycling in their area.
Andrew Cameron, Intelligent Facility Solutions founder, said: “I find the lack of information available on recycling in our city frustrating, as I know many people do, so we decided to use our company resources to do something about it.

“The response we’ve had in the days since launching the tool has been phenomenal, which just goes to show there’s a real hunger among residents to up their recycling game. The work we have done so far should go some way to helping them do that.”
Green councillor Paul Turpin added: “The recyclable waste we are allowed to place in our household bins is limited to say the least but there are many good recycling services and facilities around us.
“It’s just a case of knowing where they are and this tool has come at the perfect time and will make a real difference.”
