Sheffield council house repairs backlog to last until March 2021

Some 11,000 repair jobs were frozen when Covid-19 struck. They are now due to be completed by the end of November.
But the service expects to see 28,000 more repairs logged on top of the normal run rate from all the non emergency jobs that were not reported during the height of the crisis.

Hide AdIt was revealed when Coun Penny Baker asked Coun Paul Wood, cabinet member for neighbourhoods, at a full council meeting.
She said: “Repairs to council houses have been delayed by up to six months now, how long is the council housing repairs team going to take to get up to speed?”
Coun Wood replied: “It is expected this will take up to March 2021 to resume normal service delivery times and be on top of this. However it is very unpredictable to forecast the run rate.”
