David Baldwin, who was best known for founding Sheffield’s beloved Baldwins Omega, passed away aged 80 on 4 June at his home in Dore.
Together with his wife Pauline, he ran the banqueting suite in Brincliffe, which was described as ‘a city institution’, for more than 30 years before calling it a day in 2018.

David’s son Ben wrote on Facebook: “Dad’s final journey will take him from home in Dore (departing just after 3pm) to Hutcliffe Wood via the following route: Drury Lane, Furniss Avenue, King Ecgbert Road, Totley Brook Road, Abbeydale Road South, past Abbeydale Sports Club, Abbey Lane entrance to Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium.
“We would be delighted if you would wish to join us and line the route during any part of that journey, while strictly adhering and respecting social distancing rules. Above all we want this to be a celebration, so please be as boisterous, jovial and as loud as the good man himself.”
Tributes poured in for David, who grew up in Broomhall, following his death. Anyone wishing to donate to the Alzheimer's Society in his memory can do so here.
