Hundreds join Sheffield protest against violence towards Palestinians in Jerusalem and Gaza

A peaceful protest was organised jointly by Sheffield Palestine Solidarity Campaign and Black Lives Matter. Also represented were The Muslim Association of Britain and both Sheffield universities.
Activists, students and academics all spoke at the event, which protests trhe violent evictions of Palestinian families by Israeli settlers taking place in Sheikh Jarrah in Jerusalem

Hide AdOn Monday Israel began bombing Gaza and the casualty list quickly mounted. By the time the protest was taking place at least nine children were included in these fatalities.
One person who attended the event said: “The anger was directed at the inertia of most countries’ governments to condemn or take any actions such as sanctions to support the known fact that Israel was breaking international law and ordinary people abhorred these actions.
“They considered them shameful and immoral.
“Our government supplies arms to Israel and the UK hosts ten armament factories owned by an Israeli arms business and which employ hundreds of British people.
“Those people in Barker’s Pool on Tuesday evening did not want those deaths and violence happening in Jerusalem and Gaza to be done in their name. They stood in solidarity with all Palestinian people.”
