Lives put at risk after arson attack outside block of flats in Sheffield
A pile of rubbish was set alight outside flats in Batemoor Place, Batemoor, in the early hours of Saturday.

Hide AdThe fire was discovered at around 5am when flames spread into one flat and smoke drifted into another.
A young family in the burning flat managed to escape along with an elderly lady in the other affected property.
Firefighters extinguished the flames while police officers launched an investigation into the incident.
A hunt for the arsonist responsible is now under way.

Hide AdThe flats were cordoned off on Saturday while enquiries were carried out at the scene.
Some occupants were taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution.
The Red Cross sent its welfare unit to the flats to assist those affected by the blaze.
