John joins the Queen's royal band
John Berry is in the Blues & Royals cavalry regiment, the army’s second-most senior regiment, which has the Freedom of the City of London and the right to gallop in the Royal Parks with swords drawn.
John, of Stannington, recently took part in the Trooping of the Colour and Major General’s Parade, which takes place outside Buckingham Palace. John will also be taking part in the Queen’s Birthday Parade on June 11 and a lot of ceremonial work over the summer, as well as spending a month at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in August and September.

Hide AdJohn said: “It was pretty tough on the riding course, from absolute novice to accomplished mounted dutyman in 16 weeks, but I’m enjoying it now”.
The Band of the Household Cavalry supplies music in both mounted and unmounted formats for State Ceremonial events, military events and the civilian market as required. The band has 64 musicians and is located in Windsor.
