Hide AdReset is the third in a trilogy of high-concept shows that have already seen James pose as an undercover policeman and report back from jury duty, each time linking his conceit to genuine difficulties in his life: the former was about a post-breakup identity crisis, the latter dealt with his flailing faith.
By using observational comedy to cover maddeningly inconsequential things, James has refreshed the ‘have-you-ever-noticed’ format in his stand-up that has become hackneyed in recent years.
James Acaster: Reset is at The Civic on Friday, November 11, at 8pm. Tickets are £15 full price and £13 concessions.
The comedy continues at The Civic with Toby Foster’s Last Laugh Comedy Club.
