ITV series Brief Encounters filmed in Crookes, Sheffield
Woodfield Road in Crookes has been chosen as one of the locations for ITV’s Brief Encounters, starring Penelope Wilton, Sophie Rundle, Angela Griffin and Sharon Rooney.
It focuses on four women striving to find happiness and fulfilment in the early 1980s. Steph (Rundle) finds new excitement in her life when she discovers Ann Summers party planning, bringing in her friends Pauline (Wilton), Nita (Griffin) and Dawn (Rooney).
The series is being made by CPL Productions.

Hide AdITV’s director of drama Steve November, who commissioned the programme with head of drama series Jane Hudson, said: “Brief Encounters is a refreshingly different domestic drama taking us back to the wonderful world of the 1980s.
“We’re really excited by this commission - it’s full of heart, story and great new characters and we’re very much looking forward to working with Danielle Lux, Arabella McGuigan and their production team at CPL.”
An ITV spokesman added: “Sheffield is a very recognisable area that has a lot of architecture that still resonates with the early 1980s which is where Brief Encounters is set.
“The northern warmth and the beauty of the city with the hills beyond were also factors in ITV’s decision to film in the area.”

Filming is due to continue in Sheffield.
