Yes, I do a lot for family and friends. Co-founder Derek Bickerstaff and I once took over the kitchen at West 10 to cook for the One Health staff.

Keep it fresh, simple and seasonal – and be willing to try anything once.
What’s your favourite dish?
Fish, chips and mushy peas, from Poseidon at Woodseats.
And a drink to go with it?
Fish and chips – a cup of tea!

A country pub with good English beer.
What’s the worst meal you’ve ever had?
In Iceland I had harkarl: fermented (rotten) shark, served in a sealed jar and tastes even worse than it smells – and it smells terrible. Never again!
And the best?
A nine-course tasting meal at Castel Engelenberg in Holland. The combination of wine and food was excellent.
Your favourite TV cook?
I’m having an Indian cooking phase at the moment, so Atul Kochar. I’ve got his book and have cooked many of his curry recipes – all delicious.
What do you think of Sheffield as a place to eat out?
There’s a shortage of good independent restaurants in Sheffield as chains seem to have taken over, which is a shame. The best are definitely the small independents.
