Video shows hedgehog trapped down drain in South Yorkshire released back into wild

The animal had become stuck two foot down a drain in Rotherham before being rescued by the RSPCA on Monday.
A member of the public spotted the hedgehog after her dogs led her to the drain on Shelley Road.

Hide AdRSPCA animal welfare officer Liz Braidley said: “It was a difficult rescue as I could only just reach him with my fingertips. It took a good 15 minutes of gentle wriggling with some tongs to get him out.
“His breathing was raspy, he was cold and wouldn’t uncurl so I was quite concerned. I took him to a local veterinary practice for a check up and they kept him for monitoring overnight.”
The hedgehog was given a clean bill of health and released on Tuesday.
Liz also replaced the drain cover to prevent any repeat incidents.
